What We Know So Far

An all-new generation of the Honda CR-V is in the works, as we can see from teaser images released by Honda and spy photos of the redesigned SUV caught testing in Germany. The new model appears to sport a cleaner, more modern-looking grille design and new front and rear lighting elements. The 2023 CR-V is expected to be offered with both gasoline and hybrid powertrains but we also think an electric version could be in the mix, possibly for a debut after the upcoming 2024 Prologue SUV electric vehicle comes to market. Proportionally, the future CR-V looks to be growing somewhat in length, which could also mean Honda plans to drop an optional third row inside to better compete with the Mitsubishi Outlander and volkswagen tiguan.

What’s New for 2023?

The redesigned CR-V is expected to debut in 2022 as a 2023 model. We’ll know more about the new model closer to its on-sale date.

$38,000 (est)

We’re guessing on price here, but the new CR-V shouldn’t stray too far from the current model’s pricing and trim structure. When we find out more about the 2023 CR-V’s pricing, features, and trims, we’ll update this story with those details.

Interior, Comfort, and Cargo

From photos, we can see that the new CR-V will adopt a similar interior design as the recently redesigned Civic compact car and HR-V small SUV. A long air vent runs most of the length of the dashboard and features a honeycomb textured insert, Below that, a bank of physical climate control buttons and knobs provide easy access to those features and the center console features what looks like a wireless smartphone charging pad and a traditional automatic shift lever. The image released by Honda is likely of the top-spec Touring model as it shows black leather upholstery with attractive orange contrasting stitching.
