Max Verstappen managed to tame the changing conditions of the qualifying session, to glean the Canadian Grand Prix pole position. The reigning world champion has managed to display a rhythm that no one else has managed to follow. Fernando Alonso advanced to second place.

The Spaniard confirms theexcellent form of the Alpine on the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve and that you always have to rely on him, even at 40. carlos sainz fails in his last attempt. The biggest disappointment is signed Pierre Gasly (P15). The Norman was the victim of a brake problem. He was unable to hoist his Alpha Tauri out of Q1. The session was marked by the exit from the runway Sergio Perez. The Mexican shot straight into turn 3, before getting stuck in the protective barriers. This incident provoked the intervention of the only red flag of the day.

As a reminder, Charles Leclerc will fly from the back of the starting grid. The Monegasque has changed almost all of his power unit. He receives a multitude of penalties.
