the tops of the Canadian Grand Prix

The 9th round of the Formula 1 championship, won by Max Verstappen, caused many twists and turns. What are the tops of this Canadian Grand Prix?

Max Verstappen (1st): Author of a magnificent qualification and a race dominated by a masterful hand, the Dutchman did not miss the opportunity to accentuate his advantage in the drivers’ championship. The reigning world champion is now 46 points ahead of his teammate. After this 6th success, who can come to stop the incredible season of Max Verstappen and Red Bull?

Lewis Hamilton (3rd): The Canadian weekend had however started badly for the seven-time world champion who defined his Mercedes as “disaster”. And yet, it was enough for him to tame the wet conditions of the qualification to reveal himself. Starting 4th on the starting grid, the Briton crossed the finish line on the last step of the podium ahead of his teammate. The latter showed a certain enthusiasm, following this result, which promises great things for the next meeting in Great Britain, cradle of Formula 1 and Lewis Hamilton.

Fernando Alonso (9th): The Spaniard wasted no time in enjoying an extremely comfortable Alpine on the Gilles Villeneuve circuit. The latter combined with his talent allowed the Asturian to qualify on the front row alongside Max Verstappen. A first for him for almost 10 years (2012 German Grand Prix with Ferrari). But then, the French clan failed to convert this opportunity into a good result. The 40-year-old driver missed the mark strategically, before experiencing engine problems. Add to that a 5 second penalty and Fernando Alonso was close to not finishing the Canadian Grand Prix in the points. This result and this race do not demonstrate the effort and the quality of driving displayed by the double world champion this weekend.

Zhou Guanyu (8th): It is important for young drivers to build a benchmark race. This is the case of Guanyu Zhou on the occasion of the Canadian Grand Prix. The only rookie on the F1 grid this season had a great race at the wheel of his Alfa Romeo. Freed from any mechanical problems, the latter took the opportunity to dominate his teammate, who was not spared him, in qualifying. Sparkling in the rain, he then made the perfect run. Without brilliance, the Chinese displayed a regular rhythm, without errors, to finally reach the finish just behind his teammate.
