Discover the statements of the drivers at the end of the qualifying session for the 2022 Formula 1 Canadian Grand Prix.
Pierre Gasly (Alpha Tauri) – 15th: “When we stop to start again, the front brakes went out. It didn’t help us, then we decided to change the tyres. But I think it was not the right option, because the others managed to improve. As we have seen, it didn’t work with the Aston Martins too. Very disappointed… This morning, we set the second time in the rain, everything was looking good and there, we completely missed out on this qualification.“
🗣️ “Archi-disappointed…this morning we did the 2nd time in the rain, everything was looking good and there we completely miss this qualifying”

Max Verstappen (Red Bull) – 1st:“I never expect an easy race. In these difficult conditions, we remained calm, we made no mistakes. We made the right choices in Q3. I am very happy to have obtained this pole position. I love the feel here and can’t wait to drive tomorrow. »
Fernando Alonso (Alpine) – 2nd:” It’s awesome ! It’s been an amazing weekend so far for us (speaking of Alpine). We were competitive in free practice. We had lost a bit of rhythm yesterday afternoon (in free practice 2). In these rainy conditions, the car was great to drive. And of course the fans gave me that extra motivation. […] I will attack Max (Verstappen) at the first corner. »
Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) – 3rd:“The objective is to come back to fight for the victory. Today, I felt good with the car and particularly on the maxi-rain tyres. The others managed to improve and in the end I missed a few tenths of a second. On the last lap, I was ahead in the first sector, but unfortunately I lost everything on the last corner. »
