Water has flowed under the bridges since 2016, and the first images of the prototype of the Husqvarna Vitpilen 1301. If the big Swedish roadster, based on its cousin, the KTM 1290 Super Duke R, has not been talked about for all this time, it seems that the project has not been abandoned on the side of the Swedish firm.
Evolving at the same time as the KTM, from which it will certainly also benefit from technical improvements, the Vitpilen 1301 was thus surprised again recently during road tests. Taking over some of the attributes specific to the Vitpilen range, in particular the round headlight and this shortened rear part, the Vitpilen 1301 has more aggressive side fairings, witnesses of its proximity to the Austrian beast.
The new prototype also relies on a single-sided swingarm, like the KTM, and nine-spoke aluminum wheels, where the Austrian only offers five. The exhaust, the mirrors at the end of the handlebars and the belly pan visible on Husqvarna allow them to distinguish the two motorcycles in terms of styles, design and therefore target.
Interesting proposal to conquer a different audience of the KTM 1290 Super Duke R, the Husqvarna Vitpilen 1301 continues to develop. We now hope that we will not have to wait another five years to find out more.
