Should Pascal Vasselon smile or worry? The Toyota team boss can reassure himself at the end by consulting the lap times for the third free practice session of the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2022. With a 3:26.9 achieved at the start of the session by Kamui Kobayashi, the GR010 #7 precedes the sister car (#8) of Brendon Hartley (3:27.1) in the first two places.
But this last car experienced a reliability alert after 90 minutes of training. The machine piloted by Ryo Hirakawa stopped briefly before the Arnage turn. A “reset” of the Japanese Hypercar allowed him to get back on track.
Behind the two Glickenhaus remain within range: the #708 (3:27.5) is ahead of the #709 (3:28.0) while the #36 Alpine-Signatch is relegated to 2.4 seconds. She will benefit tonight from a 9 hp power boost due to a performance balance correction.
United Autosports double in LMP2 : the Oreca #22 of Felipe Albuquerque (3:30.9) leads the sister car (#23) of Alex Lynn.
The three hours of rehearsal were marked by two big road trips in “division 2”. First, Philippe Cimadomo’s Oreca #13 (TDS-Vaillante) crashed into the concrete wall at the Corvette bend, luckily without physical damage.

Then, the #39 Graff Racing Oreca of Sébastien Page hit the steel rail between Indianapolis and Arnage from behind.
On the GTE Pro side, Corvette confirms its good form. The #64 C8.R set the fastest time in the hands of Antonio Garcia. He is ahead of the two “factory” Porsche 911 RSRs.
The hyperpole, determining the starting grid of the 24 hours takes place this Thursday evening at 8 p.m.
