Discover the statements of the drivers after qualifying for the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix, played this Saturday.
Charles Leclerc (1st): “It’s very special, I’m so happy. It’s been a really good weekend so far. When I found myself in the car, I just had to do the job. The last lap before the red flag was really, really good. I don’t think it would have changed anything for us. […] I was really on the edge. There are a few times or never in oversteer. There was a lot of traffic in the last sector when I was preparing my lap but the weather is still there. When I think that I was four tenths of a second faster before cutting my effort… The car was incredible to drive. And I’m happy that (Carlos) Sainz is with me on the front row. […] The dry track is a little more predictable, but we will also be competitive if it rains. […] Like all Grands Prix since the beginning of the year, the approach is always the same. I’m confident that if we do everything in the right order, in the right way, the result will be there at the end of the weekend. But it’s up to us to make sure we’re as ready as possible for tomorrow. »

Carlos Sainz (2nd): “There was a crash in front of me. I saw the yellow flags at the last moment, at the last corner and I tried to avoid Sérgio (Pérez) but I couldn’t. It’s a shame because it’s another year where the red flag jeopardizes my last lap. […] Yes, I think I could fight for pole position. I had a really good pace today. We never know. […] We must try to finish the job tomorrow. We are in a position to score a very good result for the team. The car has been great all weekend, so we’ll see. »

Pierre Gasly (17th): “I am extremely disappointed. We performed well throughout the weekend… We decided to do only 2 laps then to pit and unfortunately we took the red flag. In the end, we didn’t cross the line in time and we didn’t do the last lap… We made too many mistakes and as a team it cost us extremely dearly on a weekend where we performed well in all the sessions. . […] There are lots of things that we could have done in different ways. It’s up to us to analyze everything and understand why we make these choices and the others make them differently… The session was the same for everyone. We just didn’t make the right choices and it’s not the first time. […] We’ve been making mistakes for several weekends and that’s going to have to change. »
