A real success on the Dacia Sandero, Duster and Jogger, the LPG engine is temporarily removed from the catalog due to shortages.
In these current times of fuel price inflation, opting for a petrol-LPG engine seems to be a good choice. Buyers are not mistaken, since 23,973 units were sold in this form in the first five months of 2022, or around 4% of the market. Dacia and Renault are the main distributors in France, with a wide range: Sandero, Jogger and Duster on the Romanian side, Clio and Captur at Losange. But this one is temporarily stopped…
A problem of supply in cause
Indeed, the Renault group is forced to suspend orders for its LPG models, even though this energy represents a third of sales in Europe since the beginning of the year at Dacia. The temporary abolition of this bi-fuel can be explained by supply problems for certain parts of the system by the suppliers. Our colleagues from The argus claim that the problem comes mainly from Landi, the supplier of the system which allows the use of two different fuels. This is in addition to the various semiconductor supply problems, which have affected almost all manufacturers for several months.
Thus, orders for the Duster Eco-G and Jogger Eco-G from Dacia, as well as those for the Renault Captur GPL and Clio GPL are temporarily cut off. Renault and Dacia say orders already placed will be honored, but with a bit of a delay : allow for an additional delay of up to two months. Of course, some models in stock should be available in dealerships.
The Sandero spared for the moment
Only the Dacia Sandero city car remains available in LPG version until further notice. But she too could be suspended afterwards. For the moment, it is impossible to know how long this cut will last, which penalizes Dacia a lot, the range of which is very focused on this energy. For example, the recent Jogger is only available in 110 hp petrol or 100 hp petrol-LPG.
