Audi RS4 Avant and RS5: new Competition special editions

Audi Sport is unveiling two new special series for its RS4 Avant and RS5, dubbed Competition and Competition Plus. They offer slight technical and cosmetic improvements.

Audi’s sports division reveals two new special series for its RS4 Front and RS5 Sportback and Coupe. These Competition and Competition Plus versions will be limited to a few copies only in Europe, and will offer customers some technical and aesthetic improvements.

These special versions benefit from an interior and exterior aesthetic package, including in particular RS sports seats in Alcantara and Nappa leather, black or red stitching, unique entry lighting and even glossy black badges. Outside, the set has a matte carbon pack (roof, mirrors, shields, etc.) and new 20-inch rims fitted with Pirelli semi-slick tires, the P-Zero Corsa. Finally, darkened Matrix LED headlights (specific to RS models) and an RS Plus sports exhaust integrated into a matte black rear diffuser complete the equipment. This unique exhaust offers a more elaborate sound while saving weight thanks to the reduced insulation between the engine compartment and the interior (approximately 8 kg).

Slightly reworked mechanics

On the technical side, the RS Sport Pro suspensions offer a manually adjustable damping. Out of the factory, the two Audis receive a suspension lowered by 10 mm compared to the classic RS. It can still be lowered manually by 10 mm for a total of 20 mm difference. The RS4 and RS5 remain faithful to the biturbo V6 of 450 hp (600 Nm). The 0 to 100 km/h exercise gains a few tenths thanks to the adjustments made, with 3.9 s for the RS4 Avant (- 0.2 s) and 3.8 s for the RS5 Sportback and Coupé (- 0.1 s). The maximum speed is raised to 290 km/h on both packs. Finally, braking has been revised with reworked ABS and RS ceramic brakes which allow braking 2 meters shorter above 100 km/h.

Audi announces that the order program will be updated at the end of May, with full details of the versions and equipment available in the pack. But beware, the French market will only have the Audi RS4 Avant in its Competition version. The amount of the Competition pack should be nearly €11,000, to be added to the minimum €98,410 required for the purchase of the sports break (not counting the severe penalty of more than €36,000).
