a thermal version for France against the Dacia Duster

Already very competitive in its version 100% electric ZS EVthe MG SUV receives a new thermal version in France, like other markets such as Spain, Italy or the United Kingdom. Enough to further lower its access ticket, and worry the king of the SUV market at low prices: the Dacia Duster.

The MG ZS, restyled at the end of 2021, now has two internal combustion engines in the catalog. At the entry level, it is a four-cylinder 1.5 VTI-Tech 106 hp which officiates, necessarily associated with a five-speed manual gearbox. This atmospheric block is not a thunderbolt, with a maximum torque of 141 Nm and a maximum speed of 175 km/h. The 0 to 100 km / h is shot in 10.9 s. On the top-of-the-range Luxury finish, MG also offers a 1.0 T-GDI with 111 hp. This more torquey turbo engine (160 Nm) is associated with a six-speed manual gearbox, and can climb up to 180 km/h. On the other hand, the exercise from 0 to 100 km/h is a little slower with 11.2 s. Surprisingly, these two engines emit the same CO2 emissions (149 g/km) and consume the same amount of fuel (6.6 l/100 km in the WLTP cycle).

A very good price-equipment ratio

Strong point of MG, the price-equipment ratio will be a major argument for this thermal ZS. With a range starting at €16,990, the model is barely more expensive than a basic Dacia Duster, with much less equipment. The Comfort finish of the ZS has LED headlights, manual air conditioning, 17-inch aluminum rims, cruise control, electric and heated exterior mirrors, rear parking sensors and a touch screen. 10.1 inches with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

For even more equipment, it will be necessary to turn to the high-end Luxury finish, displayed at €2,000 more expensive. This automatically includes the 360-degree camera, the heated and electrically adjustable front seats for the driver, the six-speaker sound system, the 7-inch digital speedometer, blind spot monitoring and even faux leather upholstery.

Finally, at the top of the range, the Luxury version fitted with the 1.0L T-GDI 111 hp engine is available from €20,490. It adds to the Luxury 1.5L trim the panoramic sunroof and keyless access and start.
